Members of The Women’s Outdoor Media Assocation (The WOMA) Deb Ferns, Barb Baird, Melita Ellington, Marsha Petrie Sue, Marilyn Vogel and Tammy Ballew traveled to Charlotte, N.C. this summer to participate in NRA 2010.  The WOMA’s goal is to focus on increasing media coverage of women who are active in traditional outdoor sports, especially shooting, hunting, fishing and archery and a trip to NRA 2010 seemed to be the place to get the word out.

While at the convention, the women chatted with other supporters of women in the outdoors like
  • Larry Weeks of Brownells, the first man to become a member of The WOMA
  • Cam Edwards, host of the NRA Show on Sirius Radio and at NRA.com
  • Sisters Tracy and Lanny Barnes, twin biathlon competitors and new members of The WOMA
  • Paul Pluff of Smith & Wesson, Foundation Sponsor of Babes with Bullets Practical Shooting Camps for Ladies
  • Amy Shaw of Tactical Solutions and new member of The WOMA
  • Sandy Froman, past NRA President and new member of The WOMA
Women are the fastest growing segment of the firearms community and have been embracing traditional outdoor sports in greater numbers every year. The Women’s Outdoor Media Association believes the time has come to give those women their due and are committed to that effort. If you’re a man or woman who is a member of the traditional or non-traditional media, or if you consider yourself an outdoor communicator and you’re interested in learning more about The WOMA and how you can become a member, visit them online at www.thewoma.com.
